About The Chess Timer
The Chess Timer is a free chess clock for games at a real board. Put your phone, tablet or laptop next to the board, pick a time control and press your side after every move. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
What it does
- Presets from bullet to classical, and custom time controls with Fischer increment, Bronstein delay or simple (US) delay
- Multi-stage time controls, such as 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by extra time
- Time odds (a different time for each player) and Armageddon
- Byo-yomi overtime in the Japanese and Canadian styles, as used in Go
- A face-to-face layout for phones, big tap areas, and a Shift key for each player on a laptop
- The screen stays awake while the clock runs (in browsers that support it)
- Available in English, German and Chinese
How we build it
- Free to use, with no account and no download.
- Your settings and games stay on your device. We never ask for your name or email address.
- Visitors in Europe are asked before any analytics is loaded. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
- Fonts and files come from our own domain, with no Google Fonts and no social media buttons. The only other companies involved are our host, Cloudflare, and Google Analytics, both described in the Privacy Policy.
